The project is set to be complete by 2026 and will combine native ecosystems with people. “By reclaiming the underutilized land under our Metrorail, my team aims to create liveable, sustainable, and equitable 10 miles that meet the needs of current and future generations of Miamians”.
Dr. Omarr C. Nickerson, a Miami native, is a globally educated academic, holding degrees from the University of Miami, University of Cairo, University of Damascus, and the University of Beijing. His expertise spans across several disciplines including history, political science, economics, and international relations. An accomplished lecturer, he’s known for his work in educational transformation and special education.
As the Mayor of El Portal, Nickerson has driven significant progress in economic, financial, and infrastructural development. He attributes these successes to collaborative efforts with the community and key administrative partners. Committed to enhancing council-community involvement and transparency, he aims to lead El Portal towards a prosperous and inclusive future.
Anna Papalexopoulou is the Selection Lead at Endeavor Miami, where she identifies the highest-impact entrepreneurs in Florida and helps them scale their startups.
Prior to joining Endeavor, Anna worked at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs where she drafted a strategy to connect the Greek startup ecosystem with foreign investors as part of the National Strategy for Trade and Investment Promotion.
Previously, she held positions at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she worked on a growth project in the telecommunications industry and the Metavallon Venture Capital Fund, where she focused on sourcing and diligencing seed-stage tech startups. Moreover, her personal passion lies at the intersection of business and social impact, which led her to take on a leadership role in the impact investing startup, Impending Bloom.
Faysal has always been an entrepreneur. During his time at the Venture Café Foundation – where he developed a passion for pointing entrepreneurs in the right direction during their journey from idea to launch. This is when he realized how a community’s strength relies heavily on its innovators.
Faysal moved to Miami in 2022 to serve as a bridge between entrepreneurs and resources at the Cambridge Innovation Center – where he was a Relationship Manager for clients ranging from healthcare, marketing agencies, real estate, and other industries.
He is with Endeavor today as someone who understands the journey of an entrepreneur, and wants to play a pivotal role in taking Florida entrepreneurial ecosystem to the next level.
